Amazon Prime has released the trailer for its upcoming original series The Wilds.
Described as “part survival drama, part dystopic slumber party”, the series revolves around a group of teenage girls who become stranded on a desert island after a plane crash. The official synopsis reveals that “the castaways both clash and bond as they learn more about each other, the secrets they keep, and the traumas they’ve all endured,” and that “these girls did not end up on this island by accident”.
The Wilds, created by Sarah Streicher (Daredevil), stars Sophia Ali, Shannon Berry, Reign Edwards, Helena Howard, Erana James, Jenna Clause, Mia Healey and Sarah Pidgeon, Rachel Griffith, David Sullivan, and Troy Winbush.
The trailer gives viewers a glimpse at the girls’ lives before the accident, which weren’t lacking issues such as anorexia, and their lives after they end up on the respective island, where no one seems to arrive.
The song used in the trailer is the single “Broken” by LA-based musician Lorely Rodriguez, better known as Empress Of (the 30-year-old singer broke out as Empress Of in 2015).
Season 1 of The Wilds, consisting of 10 episodes, will premiere on Amazon Prime this winter, on December 11.
