Amazon has released a heartwarming ad for this holiday season, which “is inspired by, and pays tribute to, the unbeatable human spirit and the power of community that we have witnessed so often this year” (according to Simon Morris, VP Global Creative, Amazon).
The spot, created by Lucky Generals, features the young girl (played by French ballet dancer Taïs Vinolo) being announced the star of the winter show at her ballet school and training every single day for the role. She is shown practicing at home, in her neighborhood, regardless of the weather, and at her school, obviously, until it closes because of the coronavirus pandemic. When the event is cancelled, she loses hope and isolates herself in her room. Her little sister comes up an idea, though. She creates invitations for her neighbors to an outside ballet show, whose protagonist is none other than her talented sister. The boy who likes her orders some lights from Amazon and thus, the ballet dancer is seen by dozens of people from their windows and balconies.
The soundtrack music is an orchestral version of Queen’s iconic single The Show Must Go On, words that became the retailer’s tagline for this end of year.
The 60-second version of the advert debuted on November 2 and aired on several channels. The full 120-second version of the ad is set to debut on November 3rd, during the first ad break of The Great British Bake Off on Channel 4.
