Allstate has released a new ad to promote its Pay Per Mile insurance policy, which allow customers to save up to 50%.
The spot, dubbed “Island,” features a man who wakes up in the morning and, after setting the teakettle on the stove, grabs the car keys and hits the road at the wheel of his Land Rover Defender. His trip to town includes buying some fresh fish, a loaf of warm bread and a carton of homegrown eggs from a local farmer’s house. As he gets back home, where his teakettle starts to boil, it turns out it took him only a few minutes to run his errands because he lives on a tiny island (the island is real and is in Norway; its name is Ona and is actually part of a larger group of islands).
“For some of us, our daily journey is a short one. If you don’t drive a lot, you save 50% when you Pay Per Mile with Allstate. So you pay less, when you drive less,” Allstate spokesman Dennis Haysbert says in voiceover at the end of the ad, which features The Babe Rainbow’s single Morning Song.
