Hulu has released the trailer for the second season of its original series Pen15.
The show, which is an R-rated “traumedy,” is set in middle school as it really happened in the year 2000 and features Anna Konkle and Maya Erskine playing versions of themselves as thirteen year old outcasts, surrounded by actual thirteen year olds.
The trailer features the two best friends tackling a pool party and more. Eager to go further with her newfound crush on Brandt (Jonah Beres), Maya puts her own hair in his locker and practices kissing in front of the mirror. Anna, on the other hand, is struggling with her parents inching ever closer to divorce and a full-on change to her familial situation.
The song used in the trailer is “Now I’m In It” by LA-based American pop rock band HAIM, consisting of sisters Este Haim, Danielle Haim, and Alana Haim.
Pen15 received two nominations from the WGA for Best Comedy Series and Best New Series, and Erskine, Konkle, and Stacy Osei-Kuffour were nominated for a Primetime Emmy for their writing.
Season 2 of Pen15 arrives on Hulu this fall, on September 18.
