Gucci has enlisted award-winning actress and director Anjelica Huston, singer songwriter Florence Welch, actress Jodie Turner-Smith and designer Susie Cave to star in its new Gucci Bloom Campaign.
The campaign film, shot last year and directed by award-winning photographer and director Floria Sigismondi, opens with Florence Welch exploring the abandoned theaters of La Scarzuola, a surrealist theater built upon an ancient monastery in the Umbrian Countryside, and continues with scenes of the four protagonists at the center of a floral explosion, some of which were inspired by the popular French musical film “Peau d’Âne,” directed by Jacques Demy.
The soundtrack music is the 1993 hit single Fade Into You performed by alternative rock group Mazzy Star. David Roback, the composer of the song and guitarist of the band, died earlier this year, in February, at age 61.
Florence Welch, who is the singer of Florence + The Machine, said in a Tweet “As a fragrance obsessive, I am honored to be a part of the new Gucci Bloom campaign with these iconic women, Susie Cave, Jodie Turner-Smith and High Priestess Anjelica Huston”. She also thanked the Italian label “for this unforgettable experience,” and its creative director, Alessandro Michele for his “ecstatic vision”.
