Netflix has released the trailer for Project Power starring Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
The film, directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman from a script by Mattson Tomlin, is set in New Orleans, where a mysterious new pill that unlocks temporary superpowers unique to each user escalates crime within the city to dangerous levels, and follows a former soldier (Jamie Foxx) as he teams up with a local cop (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and a teenage dealer (Dominique Fishback) to fight power with power and risk taking the pill in order to track down and stop the group responsible for creating it.
The cast also includes Rodrigo Santoro, Courtney B. Vance, Amy Landecker, Machine Gun Kelly, Tait Fletcher, Allen Maldonado and Andrene Ward-Hammond.
The trailer reveals that, with this pill, you don’t know what your Power is and what will happen until you take it. While some develop bulletproof skin, such as Gordon-Levitt’s character, invisibility, and super strength, others exhibit a deadlier reaction. Foxx’s character is on a mission to save his daughter, who has been kidnapped by the people he believes to be creating and controlling distribution of the drug.
Project Power launches on the streaming service on August 14.
