Netflix has released the trailer for the second season of its comedy-drama series “The Politician,” which promises “the spiciest and most iconic election battle in NYC history”.
The show, created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan, revolves around Payton Hobart (Platt), an ambitious wealthy Santa Barbaran, who has dreamed of being elected President of the United States since childhood. Every season explores a different political race he is involved in.
In the new season, which will see things pick up right where season 1 left off, Hobart (Ben Platt) is ready to fight to unseat Senate Majority Leader Dede Standish (Judith Light) in the New York State Senate race. According to the streaming service, “Amid rousing speeches and idealistic goals, throuples and double agents complicate Payton’s quixotic campaign for state Senate”.
The song used in the trailer is “History Repeating” by Propellerheads feat. Miss Shirley Bassey.
The Politician Season 2 arrives on the streaming service on June 19.
