The extended commercial for the upcoming action-adventure game “The Last of Us Part II,” developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 4, has been released.
In the game, which is set in a post-apocalyptic United States, five years after the events of The Last of Us, players take control of Ellie, a 19-year-old who comes into conflict with a mysterious Christian cult. They can use improvised weapons, firearms, and stealth to defend against hostile humans and cannibalistic creatures infected by a mutated strain of the Cordyceps fungus.
In the upcoming game, according to the official synopsis, “as Ellie pursues vengeance after a traumatic event, she must confront the devastating physical and emotional repercussions of her actions”.
The trailer features her fighting against several enemies and, after a few seconds hiding behind a car and a flashback, deciding to take up on other enemies.
Serving as soundtrack is a cover of New Order’s “True Faith” performed by Ellie actor Ashley Johnson.
The Last of Us Part II, announced in December 2016 and delayed twice, is now scheduled for release on June 19, 2020.
