“Want to get back to cheering in the stands with a mouthful of pie again and #HelpPlayFindAWay?” You can download the Australian government’s COVIDSafe contact tracing app to help fast-track the return of sport.
The spot features several seagulls eating a pie in the middle of an empty stadium, while the voiceover urges people to download the COVIDSafe app so that they could get back their rightful place in the stands cheering with their mouths full of pie. “So, if you want to help play find a way, you know what to do,” he also says, while an onscreen line invites viewers to search COVIDSafe to help play find a way.
The soundtrack music is the mournful “Lacrimosa” from Mozart’s “Requiem in D minor”, performed by Lorne Balfe, Russell Emanuel & Steve Kofsky.
TAB encourages sports fans from across Australia to download the app, saying that this is the quickest way to get back to watching the sport we all love and miss.
“TAB believes in the power of sport to raise spirits in the community and provide a sense of fun and connection in challenging times; and these are certainly challenging times for so many Australians,” Tabcorp managing director of wagering and media Adam Rytenskild said in a press statement.
The campaign, which aims to have the COVIDSafe app downloaded by at least five million people, is set to run across press and social channels.
