HBO has released a new teaser trailer for Lovecraft Country, a new supernatural horror series from Misha Green (the creator of Underground, which served as showrunner and executive producer).
According to the official synopsis, the show, which is based on the book by Matt Ruff, “follows Atticus Turner, a young, Black army veteran with an obsessions for science fiction books. Shortly after Atticus returns from World War II, his family is pulled into a mystery fueled by otherworldly magic and secret cults that take them all through America in the middle of the Jim Crow era”.
Haunted mansions, zombies, monsters from other worlds, a cross burning, police stopping a Black family at a checkpoint, and a police officer firing a gun are only some of the elements featured in the trailer, which is set to the tune of “The Pines” by 070 Shake, from their “Modus Vivendi” album.
Lovecraft Country is set to launch this August.
