The Gecko finds himself stuck in a game of Tetris in one of the latest GEICO ads.
The company’s cute mascot, voiced by Jake Wood, says he’s got a few things to say about the award-winning GEICO mobile app but he then finds himself in the game and doesn’t have the time to say anything else.
In another recently launched commercial, the Gecko plays Rocket League for the first time. He’s also trying to say that you could save with GEICO but he gets lost in the game and is no longer able to add anything.
Created by The Martin Agency and modified in 2005 to a CGI character by Animation Director David Hulin, GEICO’s reptilian mascot first appeared in 2000, during the Screen Actors Guild strike, that prevented the use of live actors, and became GEICO’s longest-running mascot, appearing in more than 150 commercials. Over the years, he has been voiced by multiple actors, including Kelsey Grammer, Dave Kelly, and Jake Wood.
This year, GEICO promoted its motorcycle and boat coverage, as well as its Giveback program, which implies giving auto, motorcycle, and RV policyholders a 15% credit on their next 6-month or 12-month policy term. The insurance company also launched, in the midst of the coronavirus crisis, GEICO Faces series, which includes short videos featuring GEICO associates across the country, sharing their experiences and thoughts related to working from home, coping with what the pandemic has brought us, and more.
