Netflix has released a teaser trailer for its upcoming series Space Force, which is a parodic take on the newest branch of the U.S. armed forces.
The show, from the creator of The Office, stars Steve Carell as Mark Naird, the Pentagon’s newest four-star general, formerly number two at the Air Force, who begrudgingly teams up with an eccentric scientist to get the U.S. military’s newest agency, Space Force, ready for lift-off.
The cast also includes John Malkovich, Diana Silvers, Tawny Newsome, Lisa Kudrow and Ben Schwartz.
The trailer features an officer introducing Naird and warning that the nation’s Internet runs through vulnerable space satellites and POTUS wants complete space dominance, so – to that end – the President is creating a new branch, called Space Force. Naird, who bursts into laughter after hearing this, is then shown giving an empowering speech to his team: “This is a great adventure we are embarking on today. There will be setbacks, but greatness was never won without sacrifice,” he says.
The trailer also features Naird singing and dancing to the rhythms of “Kokomo” by The Beach Boys alone, in his office.
Space Force arrives on Netflix on May 29.
