Northwestern Mutual highlights that there is no one American dream, but 330 million of them, in its latest marketing push, consisting of a series of ads touting its various planning services – from travel to business and family planning.
One of the commercials features a middle-aged man who shares his story of how he accomplished his dream of seeing the world and run for himself, not others.
“I’ve always been running to meetings, errands… Now I’m running for me. I’ve always dreamed of seeing the world. But I’m not chasing that dream anymore. I’ve made a financial plan to live it every day,” the man says in voiceover while on screen he is shown running through different cities and landscapes from across the world, including beaches, desert and the top of snowy mountains.
The commercial ends with the voiceover saying “At Northwestern Mutual, our version of financial planning helps you live your dreams today” and urging viewers to find a Northwestern Mutual advisor at nm.com.
Serving as soundtrack is The Avett Brothers’ 2009 single “Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise,” taken from their “I and Love and You” album.
