Netflix has released the trailer for its upcoming film Uncorked, about a young man who feels torn between his dream of becoming a master sommelier and his father’s expectations that he’ll take over the family barbecue business.
The movie, written and directed by Prentice Penny, revolves around Elijah (Mamoudou Athie), who must find a way to balance his dream of becoming a master sommelier with his father’s expectations for him to carry on the family’s popular Memphis barbecue joint.
The cast also includes Mamoudou Athie, Courtney B. Vance, and Niecy Nash.
The trailer gives viewers a glimpse into Elijah’s life and the pressure he must deal with as his father wants him to take over the family’s business, while he wants to pursue his dream. “How do you choose between family and your dream?” he asks in one of the scenes included in the trailer, which is scored by a French track.
Uncorked is set to launch on Netflix, March 27.
