Netflix has dropped the trailer for its upcoming original drama series The English Game, based on true events.
The show, from writer Julian Fellowes (creator of “Downton Abbey” and “Gosford Park”), is set in the 19th century and follows, according to the official synopsis, “two footballers on opposite sides of a class divide as they navigate professional and personal turmoil to change the game – and England – forever”.
The series, described as “richly detailed ensemble drama,” stars Edward Holcroft, Kevin Guthrie, Charlotte Hope, Niamh Walsh, Craig Parkinson, James Harkness, Ben Batt, Gerard Kearns, and Henry Lloyd-Hughes.
The trailer gives viewers a glimpse into the lives of the two protagonists and the events that took place as they were playing for two different teams.
The song used in the trailer is “I Know Where The Sun Rises” by Aloe Blacc & AG.
Season 1 of The English Game premieres later this month, on March 20.
