Amazon Music promotes Alicia Keys’ new song Underdog, which is about rising up against the odds, and aims to remind people that, when you have a voice, you can do anything – from standing up for your community to being inspired by the music around you.
The spot gives viewers the chance to listen for 30 seconds the artist’s latest single, released earlier this year, on January 9th, which features writing credits from Ed Sheeran and is co-produced by Johnny McDaid.
The song, included on Key’s seventh studio album “ALICIA,” also has a music video, which revolves around a man selling CDs on the side of the road and a girl in a hijab going to prom with her friends. “Some people may think of the word underdog as a negative word, but I see it as a powerful word representing people who may be underestimated and yet still rise to the challenge and exceed expectations,” Keys said in a statement, adding that she loves this song because “it’s about real life and real people and our experiences”. She also revealed that one of her favorite lyrics in the song is “They say I would never make it but I was built to break the mold”.
