The 18th Annual Turkey Trot is coming up and Michelob ULTRA celebrates its status as The Official Beer of Turkey Trotters and honors all those who move their feet before they eat on Thanksgiving in a new commercial.
The spot features Saturday Night Live’s Beck Bennett opening the Turkey Trotters Hall of Fame, where they pay homage to the sports rich and storied history and present some of the characters attending the Turkey Trot, namely “The Over-Preparer,” who can be easily spotted from a mile away because he is decked out in way too many thermal layers that end up shedding, Terry “I’m-Just-Here-for-the-T-shirt” Thorton, who gets a selfie in her new shirt and then walks the entire race because she is not about to get sweat on that baby, and the “Married-into-the-family” man, who never intended to have in-laws that run holiday 5Ks, but he has and this is the reason why he’s wearing an “ill-fitting O’Doyles Run for Turkey shirt”.
Toward the end of the video, Bennett encourages viewers to show their shuffle, their jog and their “I’m-just-waiting-for-my-family-to-catch-up” stance, and, most importantly, to trot on.
The beer brand informed that it will donate $1 up to $10K to Ample Harvest, a non-profit on a mission to end food waste and hunger, for every picture shared on Instagram and Twitter with the hashtag #WillTrotForBeer and @MichelobULTRA tagged.
The Annual Turkey Trot will be taking place on Thursday, November 28 from 8:30 a.m. until noon on the corner of Tilden Street and 10th Street. The 5K is free to participate in, but participants are asked to bring some canned goods and other non-perishable food items to donate.
