Kevin the Carrot is back on the small screen also this year, in Aldi’s Christmas advert.
The 70-second spot, inspired by Peaky Blinders, features the root vegetable finding himself in danger as a new character – villain Russell Sprout and his gang – are boiling with rage against him and his family. In the opening of the video, Kevin is shown tied up to a grater and Sprout’s gang throwing Tiny Tom the tomato at him. The latter frees Kevin and then they both run away to perform in the Big Top.
On stage, Kevin the Carrot, who performs a revamped version of Robbie William’s “Let Me Entertain You,” while around him the retailer’s Christmas range of food and drink is showcased, is joined by his wife and his kids and they all watch Russell fly through the air and get impaled on a star. “That one will be hanging around all Christmas,” Kevin says.
The advert is set to make its TV debut on Thursday, 7 November, at 5.30pm on ITV.
