Netflix has released the trailer for its first hip-hop competition series, Rhythm + Flow.
The show, presented as “an unprecedented 3-week event,” follows Cardi B, Chance the Rapper, and Tip “T.I.” Harris as they are searching for hip-hop’s best, undiscovered talent from Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles and New York City.
“Creativity doesn’t have blueprints,” Chance the Rapper says in the opening of the trailer, which also sees him and his two fellow artists as judges on the series. “These streets right below us, that’s where we’re going to find the next hip-hop sensation,” another member of the judge says from a helicopter.
The song used in the trailer is “Win” by Jay Rock, from his third studio album, “Redemption”.
The music competition series, consisting of ten episodes, launches October 9 with four episodes and subsequently, new episodes will be available every Wednesday. On October 16, the streaming service will release three episodes that will feature ciphers, rap battles, and music videos. On October 23rd, the final three episodes will stream, giving viewers the chance to watch the contestants working on samples, doing collaborations and, eventually, find out who is declared “the next hip-hop sensation”.
