Hulu has released the first trailer for its upcoming series Dollface, produced by Margot Robbie’s production company Luckychap Entertainment.
According to the official synopsis, the female-led comedy show, created by Jordan Weiss, revolves around Jules (Kat Dennings), “a young woman who – after being dumped by her longtime boyfriend – must deal with her own imagination in order to literally and metaphorically re-enter the world of women, and rekindle the female friendships she left behind”.
The cast also includes Shay Mitchell, Brenda Song, and Esther Povitsky as Jules’ best friends, Connor Hines, Beth Grant, Alexandra Vassell, and more.
The teaser trailer features the moment Jules’ longtime boyfriend breaks up with her and goes on with the young woman embarking on a journey to meet with her old friends. “I lost myself in this relationship and now things are getting weird,” Jules says before getting on a bus driven by an old cat lady, who tells her that “women need each other now more than ever.” “Turn your back on them and you end up alone,” the old cat lady, whose head is one of a cat, also says. After she begins to hang out with her old friends again, comedic moments ensue. Toward the end of the trailer, when her ex-boyfriend tells her “Dollface,” Jules asks him to not call her “Dollface”.
The soundtrack is the 2019 single “Soulmate” by singer, songwriter, rapper and actress Lizzo, from her third studio album, “Cuz I Love You”.
Season 1 of Dollface, consisting of 10 episodes, will be available to stream on Hulu on November 15.
