Hulu has released the trailer for its new comedy series This Way Up.
The show, described as “a comedy about moving on, moving forward and trying to find happiness,” stars Irish writer & comedienne Aisling Bea as Aine, “a whip-smart English-as-a-foreign language (TEFL) teacher trying to pull her life back together after a ‘teeny little nervous breakdown'”. Sharon Horgan plays Shona, her older sister who worries not only about Aine, but also about her own life choices. According to the official synopsis, the TEFL school where Aine teaches “brings together a room full of characters also trying to find their own hope, direction and happiness in this messy world”.
The trailer opens with Bea’s character leaving a rehab facility, where she says she had the time of her life, and goes on with her trying to get back on track. “You’ve got a fire in you and you can use that to burn yourself and everyone else around you down,” a woman at the rehab facility tells Aine, who answers she was hoping for the lottery numbers.
The soundtrack music is “Perfect Daydream (Female Vocals)”, by Claude Pelouse, from the 2011 album “Creative Pop Songs”.
This Way Up launches August 21.
