The Goldfinch (2019 Movie Trailer) - Actress Nicole Kidman

Warner Bros. has released the trailer for The Goldfinch, the film adaptation of Donna Tartt’s globally acclaimed best-selling novel, which won the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction.

The film, directed by BAFTA Award winner John Crowley from a screenplay by Oscar nominee Peter Straughan, features a multigenerational cast led by Ansel Elgort as Theo Decker, a young man whose mother was killed in a bombing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, when he was 13 years old. According to the official synopsis, “The tragedy changes the course of his life, sending him on a stirring odyssey of grief and guilt, reinvention and redemption, and even love. Through it all, he holds on to one tangible piece of hope from that terrible day… a painting of a tiny bird chained to its perch”.

The cast also includes Nicole Kidman as Mrs. Barbour, Boyd Gaines as her husband, Mr. Barbour, Oakes Fegley as Young Theo, Aneurin Barnard as Boris, Finn Wolfhard as Young Boris, Sarah Paulson, Luke Wilson, Jeffrey Wright, Ashleigh Cummings, Willa Fitzgerald, Aimee Laurence and Denis O’Hare.

The song used in the trailer is the 2017 single “Otherside (Edited Version)” by Perfume Genius (Mike Hadreas by his real name), from his fourth album, “No Shape”.

The Goldfinch is slated for release this fall, on September 13.
