Renée Zellweger impersonates Judy Garland in the upcoming biopic Judy.
Based on Peter Quilter’s play End of the Rainbow, adapted for the screen by Tom Edge and directed by Rupert Goold, the film is set in the winter of 1968 and follows the legendary performer as she arrives in London for her sold-out run at the nightclub Talk of the Town, 30 years after The Wizard of Oz.
The cast also includes Rufus Sewell as Judy’s third husband, Sid Luft, Finn Wittrock as her fifth husband, Mickey Deans, Michael Gambon as her manager, Bernard Delfont, Bella Ramsey as her daughter Lorna Luft, and Gemma-Leah Devereux as her daughter Liza Minnelli.
The trailer, set to a rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by Zellweger, gives viewers a glimpse into Garland’s life, as she prepares for her shows, as she performs on stage, as she interacts with family and friends, and deals with addiction.
Judy is set for release in US cinemas on September 27 and UK cinemas on October 4.
