Lionsgate has released the trailer for the upcoming indie noir thriller The Poison Rose, starring John Travolta and Morgan Freeman.
According to the official synopsis, Travolta plays Carson Philips, “a hard-drinking L.A. private eye who takes a case in his old hometown of Galveston, Texas. While searching for a missing woman, Philips must confront a crime boss (Freeman), a shady doctor (Fraser), a sexy club singer (Kat Graham), his former lover (Famke Janssen) – and his own dark, disturbing past”.
The film, co-directed by filmmakers Francesco Cinquemani, George Gallo and Luca Giliberto Peter Stormare, from a script by Francesco Cinquemani, Luca Giliberto, and Richard Salvatore, also features Peter Stormare, Ella Bleu Travolta, Robert Patrick, Nadine Lewington, and Nick Vallelong.
The trailer gives viewers a glimpse at the characters and the relationships they have. First, Travolta’s character is introducing himself as “a Hollywood PI” who likes “to drink, to smoke, and gamble”. He is then seen as he returns to his old hometown in Texas and takes on a case that puts him in all kinds of trouble.
The soundtrack music is a dramatic song performed by a female singer, whose lyrics include “Talk to me, turn to me, I’ve never meant to leave you”.
The Poison Rose will open in select theaters and On Demand May 24.
