Huawei’s P30 Pro, featuring 10x Hybrid Zoom, has a competitor: OPPO Reno 10x Zoom.
OPPO’s Reno 10x Zoom Edition, which joins the Standard Edition, is being advertised in a series of ads part of the “Get Ready for Reno” campaign. One of the latest spots, dubbed “Go fun the world,” shows how the hybrid zoom works in several situations. First, a blonde woman in a blue convertible is captured as she waves in the air, a parrot is captured as he looks at himself in the mirror of a scooter, a little girl is captured as she makes funny faces in a rollercoaster and a man hanging from a rope with the sea behind him is captured as he sends a kiss to someone watching him.
The commercial, set to the tune of “You Make Me Smile” by Devin Hoffman & Courtney Woolsey & Skip Armstrong, ends with the tagline “10x Hybrid Zoom, Further Your Vision” flashing across the screen and also announces that OPPO Reno Series is coming soon.
OPPO Reno 10x Zoom comes with a strong Gorilla Glass 6 front panel, 6.6-inch display – one of the bigger ones among actual flagship devices, Snapdragon 855 chipset, Android 9 Pie, customized by the Color OS and the EMUI user interface, respectively, and OPPO’s proprietary VOOC 3.0 fast charging. In terms of camera, the OPPO Reno 10x zoom boasts an OIS-backed 48 MP main sensor and 13 MP periscope lens with the brand’s new 10x hybrid zoom proprietary technology, which was demoed at MWC 2019.
Both the Zoom edition and Standard edition come in four colors to choose from: blue, black, pink, and purple.
So far, ony the Chinese pricing is available. The price for the 10x Zoom Edition with 6GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage is set at 3,999 yuan ($600). Prices for other markets should be announced at Oppo’s global launch event in Zurich on April 24.
