Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s BAFTA-winning comedy returns for its second season this spring and Amazon Prime has released a trailer, giving viewers a glimpse into the heroine’s new challenges.
The show revolves around Fleabag, a young woman in her 30s living in London, as she’s trying to navigate her own life while dealing with the tragedy of her best friend’s death.
Season 2 has Olivia Colman reprising her role as Fleabag’s insufferable step-mother, who’s engaged to Fleabag’s emotionally unavailable father, played by Bill Paterson, Sian Clifford as Fleabag’s uptight sister Claire, Hugh Skinner as Fleabag’s on-off boyfriend Harry, and Jenny Rainsford as Boo. The upcoming season will also feature new cast additions: Fiona Shaw appears as Fleabag’s new counselor, to whom Fleabag admits to “using sex to deflect from the screaming void inside my empty heart,” and Andrew Scott as a priest who completely changes her world view. Kristin Scott Thomas and Fiona Shaw also have guest roles this series.
The song used in the trailer is the 2017 single “Fire” by American singer Beth Ditto (born Mary Beth Patterson), from her solo debut album, “Fake Sugar”.
Season 2 of Fleabag launches on Amazon Prime next month, on May 17, 2019.
