STX Entertainment has released the trailer for the upcoming action film 21 Bridges, from visionary producers Anthony Russo and Joseph Russo.
According to the official synopsis, the film follows “an embattled NYPD detective (Chadwick Boseman), who is thrust into a citywide manhunt for a pair of cop killers after uncovering a massive and unexpected conspiracy. As the night unfolds, lines become blurred on who he is pursuing, and who is in pursuit of him. When the search intensifies, extreme measures are taken to prevent the killers from escaping Manhattan as the authorities close all 21 bridges to prevent any entry or exit from the iconic island”.
The movie, directed by Game of Thrones veteran Brian Kirk, also stars Sienna Miller, Stephan James, Taylor Kitsch, Keith David and J.K. Simmons.
The trailer, set to the 2017 single “Mask Off” by American rapper Future, from his eponymous fifth studio album, reveals that Boseman’s character, whose father, a police officer, was gunned down while he was on duty, is brought in to solve the case of a drug heist that resulted in the killing of eight cops. In order to find the criminals, he decides to completely shut down the island of Manhattan and a gripping cat-and-mouse chase through the city ensues.
21 Bridges is scheduled to hit theaters this summer, on July 12th.
