British online retailer Very.co.uk has launched a new advert, showing the unlimited possibilities that a box can bring and encouraging viewers to “Start something new today with Very.co.uk”.
The 30-second spot opens with a young man placing a box on the living room floor of his new house, ready to unpack his belongings, and goes on with several other people and… boxes. A father is playing with his little daughter, who’s driving a car specially made for her from a cardboard box, a boy finds a vinyl after searching through his parents’ record collection, a teenage boy is trying to find the courage to talk to the girl he likes, who’s sitting right next to him, as they collect together votes for the School President, a young man welcomes his girlfriend at a bus station by opening a little box that holds an engagement ring, two youngsters are carrying together a box filled with ice cold drinks at a party.
At the end of the spot, the young man featured at the beginning is now seen in his new home, but surrounded by dozens of boxes and in the company of his pregnant wife.
“It starts with a box. Start something today with Very.co.uk,” the voiceover says, while on screen the company’s logo and the tagline “Shop now pay later” is seen.
The soundtrack music is the 2018 single “Where We Come Alive” by American electronic pop singer-songwriter Ruelle (Margaret “Maggie” Eckford by her real name), which was also used by Google as soundtrack for its Year in Search 2018 video.
