STARZ has released a first trailer for its upcoming supernatural spy thriller The Rook.
The show, based on Daniel O’Malley’s 2012 novel of the same name, revolves around Myfanwy Thomas, a woman who wakes up in the rain beside London’s Millennium Bridge with no memory of who she is and no explanation for the circle of dead bodies around her. According to the official synopsis, “When Myfanwy discovers she is a high-ranking official in the Checquy, Britain’s last truly secret service for people with paranormal abilities, she will have to navigate the dangerous and complex world of the agency to uncover who wiped her memory – and learn why she is a target”.
The cast includes Emma Greenwell in the leading role, Joely Richardson, Olivia Munn, Adrian Lester, Ronan Raftery, Catherine Steadman, and Jon Fletcher as other members of the Checquy. The teaser, scored by a catchy tune, features, among others, Raftery, Steadman, and Fletcher as four “siblings” named Gestalt (Fletcher plays two of them) who are actually a hive mind – one persona spread across four bodies. One of the scenes shows them all together in bed.
The Rook will debut this summer on Starz. The exact premiere date has yet to be announced.
