Someone Great (Netflix Movie) – Trailer Songs

Someone Great (Netflix Movie) - Actress Gina Rodriguez

Netflix has released the trailer for its upcoming film Someone Great, described as “a hilarious and heartfelt story of friendship, love, and what it means to let go of your twenties and enter adulthood”.

The comedy drama, written and directed by the creator of MTV’s Sweet/Vicious, Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, follows aspiring music journalist Jenny (Gina Rodriguez), who has just landed her dream job at an iconic magazine and is about to move to San Francisco. Not feeling ready to leave New York, her boyfriend of nine years (Lakeith Stanfield) decides to put an end to their relationship, which makes Jenny gather up her two best friends, Erin (DeWanda Wise) and Blair (Brittany Snow), for one outrageous last adventure in the city.

The trailer shows how Jenny, in her attempt to nurse her broken heart, calls her best friends and asks them to come up with an excuse to skip work and go to her apartment instead. They then spend time together, as she has one week left before moving to San Francisco, and this includes dancing in the kitchen, talking about their feelings and fears, and going in a night club, where Jenny meets her ex-boyfriend and drops her phone in the toilet while texting him, judging by one of the scenes.

The song used in the trailer is Lizzo’s 2017 single “Truth Hurts” and the 2018 single “Timebomb” by indie pop music super-duo Post Precious (consisting of indie pop soloist Alex Winston and MS MR’s Max Hershenow), from their “Crown – EP”.

Someone Great is scheduled to launch on the streaming service this spring, on April 19.
