Women are taking over Hulu in honor of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day. The streaming service has released a 30-second spot that carries the tagline “We See You” and celebrates women.
Set to the tune of the 2019 single “Hands High (Main)” by K’Valentine, the video features scenes from some of Hulu’s women-led shows, including hit dystopian drama series “The Handmaid’s Tale,” the upcoming comedy “Shrill,” based on Lindy West’s best selling 2016 memoir, Shrill: Notes Form A Loud Woman, “Around the Way,” a three-part series that celebrates Black History Month by exploring the histories of Atlanta, Los Angeles, and New York, “Grown-Ish,” “Better Things,” a show revolving around a divorced actress who raises three daughters on her own, the millennial coming-of-age comedy series PEN15, and others.
Among the female leads shown throughout the promo are Elisabeth Moss, who plays Offred in The Handmaid’s Tale, Maya Erskine, who plays herself as a teen in PEN15, Aidy Bryant, who plays Annie – a fat young woman who wants to change her life, but not her body, in Hulu’s original Shrill, Issa Rae, Serena Williams, and more.
The spot also features word that illustrate the many ways a woman can be, such as influencer, rebel, lover, trailblazer, mother, champion, seeker, dreamer, thinker, guru, daredevil, beauty, and warrior.
