Award-winning independent global studio Gunpowder & Sky has released the official trailer for the upcoming musical drama film Her Smell.
Written and directed by Alex Ross Perry, the movie revolves around Becky Something (Elisabeth Moss), a ’90s rock superstar who once filled arenas with her all-female trio Something She and is forced to retreat from the spotlight and reckon with her troubled past when her excesses derail a recording session and a national tour.
The cast also includes Cara Delevingne as the drummer of a rival band, Amber Heard as Becky Something’s arch-rival, singer Zelda, Agyness Deyn, Gayle Rankin as the band Something She’s drummer, Dan Stevens, Ashley Benson, and Eric Stoltz. The original score is by Keegan Dewitt.
The trailer features Moss as a troubled punk frontwoman in the ’90s, singing several songs, including a cover of the Only Ones’ “Another Girl Another Planet,” playing the piano and the guitar. On the other hand, she is seen as an artist who struggles to overcome her addiction, to improve her relationship with herself and her husband. Onscreen lines representing positive reviews from TIFF and other festivals also appear throughout the trailer.
The film is scheduled to premiere in New York on April 12th and in Los Angeles on April 19th, with a wider release to follow.
