Barilla US invites you to see, in its latest commercial, dubbed “The Party,” what happens when Roger Federer and his friends Mikaela Shiffrin and Davide Oldani share their passion for pasta.
The 60-second ad, part of the brand’s “Masters of Pasta” campaign, features the Swiss tennis champion arriving at a party at a mansion, where the guests are treated with sticks and, judging by their faces, are quite bored especially since the live orchestra hired for the event doesn’t help at all at creating a lively atmosphere. Things change completely, though, when Federer enters the kitchen and starts cooking, together with chef Oldani, Barilla spaghetti. Soon, all the guests – the musicians included – leave the main room and go into the kitchen to watch “the show” and taste the result. The soundtrack music also changes, now Zorba’s Dance making everyone dance and cheer on the two chefs.
When ready, Federer hands a plate to one of the guests – a gorgeous young lady – who gives her feedback with a smile. He then says “Buon apettito” and the party goes on. In the kitchen, of course. Finally, when Federer makes a hand sign representative for the Italian culture, Oldani can’t help but shake his head.
Federer signed an endorsement deal with the Barilla Group, the largest pasta company in the world, in 2017. His endorsement portfolio also includes global brands like Nike, Mercedes-Benz, Rolex, Credit Suisse and Wilson, making him rank among the world’s highest-paid athletes.
