Colonel RoboCop is the newest Colonel Sanders. KFC has released a series of ads introducing the movie-inspired Colonel as the latest face of KFC’s famous fried chicken.
One of them, titled “Countdown,” features a family of four watching the RoboCop film in their living room and being visited by Colonel RoboCop, who brings them a KFC $20 Fill-Up and asks them to try it. He also gives them an ultimatum, informing them that they have ten seconds to comply. Confronted with a “Shhh”, he later warns them they have five seconds to comply. When he begins the countdown, the family members realize it’s time to comply to the Colonel RoboCop’s request, so they rush to get the Fill-Up.
KFC’s $20 Fill-Up meals offer several options to choose from, including 8-piece Original Recipe Chicken, new 6-piece Boneless Chicken Breasts, 12-piece Chicken Tenders, and 8-piece Extra Crispy Chicken. Each meal comes complete with a large cole slaw, 4 biscuits, and 2 large mashed potatoes and gravy.
The fast-food chain’s new campaign, from agency Wieden & Kennedy, which is focused on the chain’s history, also features the Colonel RoboCop as he embarks on a mission of transporting an encrypted copy of the secret 11 herbs-and-spices recipe to the Bahnhof Data Center, in Stockholm, Sweden, which was created in a maximum security nuclear bunker designed to give “indefinitely high security at all threats”.
