BBC has released the trailer for the upcoming film Care, a new drama by Jimmy McGovern and Gillian Juckes for BBC One.
The film, inspired by the screenwriters’ real life experiences, follows Jenny (Sheridan Smith), a single mother of two, who finds herself torn between her own life and the wellbeing of her widowed mother, Mary (Alison Steadman), who suffers a devastating stroke and develops dementia. The latter helped Jenny raising her two daughters and this dramatic change comes to crash down Jenny’s world. According to the official synopsis, “Jenny soon discovers that another way could be possible – but she’ll have to fight for it”.
The cast ensemble also includes Sinead Keenan as Jenny’s sister, Claire. Described as “a truly remarkable story of one woman’s battle to get the best care for her mother,” the 90-minute film was produced by LA Productions and directed by David Blair. Filming took place in and around Liverpool.
The song used in the trailer is the 2015 hit single “Unsteady” by American rock band X Ambassadors, from their debut studio album, “VHS”. The track was also featured in the motion picture soundtrack for the film “Me Before You” and the Erich Lee Gravity Remix has been used on the Fox drama series “Lucifer”. “Unsteady” was nominated for Top Rock Song at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards.
