WGU Teacher Commercial Song – Changing Higher Education for the Better

Western Governors University has released a series of new ads, highlighting that WGU is changing higher education for the better so people can change their lives for the better.

One of the spots, titled “Times are a-changin’ for teachers,” tells the story of Mrs. Evans, a substitute teacher who doesn’t get the respect she deserves from the pupils. She studies hard to become a teacher and, when this happens, after graduating WTU, she finds herself working as a teacher, with pupils collaborating and giving their interest at the class.

Other three spots are dedicated to a struggling single father who studies Business Management and gets a better job, to another man ( husband and dad of a newborn baby), who works hard all day long for an IT company that sends him on the field to get problems fixed, and to a nurse who studies to become a doctor.
“WGU is changing higher education for the better. So you can change your life for the better.” onscreen lines read at the end of the commercials.

The soundtrack music is a cover of Bob Dylan’s 1965 single “The Times They Are a-Changin'”, from his third studio album of the same name.

Over the decades, the song has been covered by many different artists, including Nina Simone, Peter, Paul, and Mary, Simon & Garfunkel, Runrig, the Byrds, the Beach Boys, The Seekers, Joan Baez, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen and Phil Collins. The song was ranked number 59 on Rolling Stone’s 2004 list of the “500 Greatest Songs of All Time”.
