Amazon Prime has released the trailer for the upcoming season 4 of its hit series Outlander.
The show, based on Diana Gabaldon’s historical time travel book series of the same name, tells the story of Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe,) a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743, where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world where her life is threatened. “When she meets Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, her heart is torn between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives,” the official synopsis reads.
Season 4 continues the story of Claire and her 18th century Highlander husband as they try to make a home for themselves in colonial America. According to the streaming service, in the upcoming episodes, viewers will find the Frasers in North Carolina, in a place called Fraser’s Ridge at yet another turning point in history, the cusp of the American Revolution.
“If I can make this a good land, my presence here now can be felt by Brianna later on. And that would be something,” Jamie tells Claire in one of the scenes revealed in the trailer. Brianna (Claire and Jamie’s daughter, raised in 20th century Boston as Frank’s child) is also featured, receiving a phone call that announces “some news” for her about her mother. The trailer, which ends with the line “Sometimes, life takes unexpected turns,” also features Claire finding a skull with a silver filling in the teeth, which is “something that won’t be invented 400 years”.
“This season, a new land, a new journey,” onscreen lines read throughout the trailer, which is soundtracked by the 2018 song “We Could Cry” by NineOneOne.
Season 5 of Outlander launches on November 5 on Amazon Prime.
