Santander Bank celebrates its status of Official Bank of the UEFA Champions League in a new commercial, featuring former Brazilian footbal player Ronaldo Luis Nazário, that showcases how soccer can positively impact peoples’ lives.
Titled “soccer can,” the 30-second ad features football fans on the edge of their seats during a game, standing up with joy when their favorite team scores a goal, a group of coworkers who got all together to watch a football game, various youngsters from across the world joggling a football, and fans shouting from the top of their lungs wherever they are to celebrate the victory of their favorite team. Onscreen lines throughout the spot highlight that soccer “can lift you up”, “can bring out the best in you”, and “can change your world”.
Santander Bank was unveiled as new UEFA Champions League sponsor from the start of the 2018/19 season in November 2017. The agreement, which is for three years, also includes the UEFA Super Cup, UEFA Youth League Finals and the newly formed UEFA Futsal Champions League Finals. This is the third partnership to be agreed as part of the 2018-2021 sponsorship sales process for the UEFA Champions League. Heineken and Nissan have both already confirmed that they have extended their sponsorship of the competition for another three years.
