Netflix gives people a glimpse into its upcoming Spanish teen thriller series ELITE in a teaser trailer, featuring some of the key characters.
Written by Darío Madrona and Carlos Montero and co-directed by Ramón Salazar and Dani de la Orden, the new show, which was described by Francisco Ramos, one of the producers, as “a series about the desire and need to fit into a society in which everything is seemingly perfect, but in which everything can get worse,” revolves around three working-class teenagers who have been admitted to Las Encinas, the best and most exclusive school in Spain, where the elite send their children to study. Arriving there following the collapse of their academy and the decision of the local council of dividing up the students between other schools in the area, the tree youngsters finds themselves involved in the investigation of a murder committed during a party.
The cast ensemble includes María Pedraza, Miguel Herrán and Jaime Lorente, who star in the successful Spanish series La Casa de Papel (Money Heist), Danna Paola, one of Mexico’s most popular actresses and singers, as well as up-and-coming actors, such as Ester Expósito, Itzan Escamilla, Arón Piper, Miguel Bernardeau, Mina El Hammani, Álvaro Rico, and Omar Ayuso, who makes his acting debut in ELITE.
The trailer, scored by the 2018 single “5 in the Morning” by Charli XCX, features the school’s students at a party where rich kids are smoking, taking drugs, and are having fun.
Season 1 of ELITE, consisting of eight episodes, will be available on the streaming service this fall, on October 5.
ELITE is the second Spanish Original series after the success of Las Chicas del Cable (Cable Girls), which has been renewed for a third season.
