ITV has released the trailer for the upcoming series Queen of the World, which offers a unique insight into Her Majesty The Queen’s role as a figure on the global stage and tells the story of how the Commonwealth has been a central focus and passion throughout Her Majesty’s life.
“She’s not just out Queen. She’s Queen to many. And now we are granted privileged access to the Queen as she hands down her duties to the next generation,” the voiceover says on the 30-second spot, which features Prince Charles, his sons with Lady Diana, William and Harry, as well as the latter’s wife, Meghan Markle.
The documentary series, filmed over a year, will give viewers a glimpse into the Queen’s global travels and her dealing with world leaders, as well as privileged access to her family, staff, palaces and Royal Collection.
According to the channel, viewers will also get to learn more about Prince Harry’s role as Commonwealth Youth Ambassador, a role he took this year, and, in episode one, will see his wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, reflecting on their wedding day and her decision to celebrate the Commonwealth in her outfit.
The song used in the trailer is the opening to the debut single by American pop singer Vanessa Carlton, “A Thousand Miles”, which was released in 2002 as part of her “Be Not Nobody” album and covered, over the years, by numerous artists, including Victoria Justice, Icarus the Owl, David Archuleta, and the Glee cast.
Queen of the World will premiere today, Tuesday 18th September, at 9:15pm on ITV.
