Rooney Mara stars in a new commercial for Givenchy’s updated version of L’Interdit, a floral-woody fragrance for women developed by perfumers Dominique Ropion, Anne Flipo and Fanny Bal.
The ad features the Mary Magdalene star climbing down the stairs in the Paris metro and discovering an underground party which she leaves at the crack of dawn. The soundtrack music is the 2013 single “Deceive” by Trentemøller, featuring Sune Rose Wagner from the Raveonettes.
The new, modern edition of the 1957 scent, a scent which was inspired by iconic American actress Audrey Hepburn and created for her (she wore it for a year before its release to the public), features notes of orange blossom, jasmin, tuberose, vetiver, patchouli, ambroxan, caramel and vanilla, and comes in a bottle of think glass that pays homage to the original shape, but with a few updates, including the 4 G logo added to the black ribbon that encircles the neck.
Mara, named an ambassador for the French fashion house earlier this year, in May, gained particular attention in 2011 after portraying Lisbeth Salander, the title character in David Fincher’s adaptation of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”, based on Stieg Larsson’s Millennium book series. Her performance was highly praised by critics and she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama.
