Bravo has released a short trailer for its new true series Dirty John, from Chance co-creator Alexandra Cunningham.
Based on the true crime podcast Dirty John from Los Angeles Times reporter Christopher Goffard, the upcoming show stars Connie Britton as Debra Newell, a single mother and interior designer who falls for “Dirty John”, aka John Meehan, played by Eric Bana. The cast also includes Jean Smart as Debra’s mother, Arlane, and Julia Garner and Juno Temple as Debra’s daughters Terra and Veronica, respectively.
According to the network, Season 1 will revolve around Debra’s romantic relationship with Meehan as it turns into “a dark tale of deceit, manipulation, and survival for her whole family.” There will also be a second season, but details about the plot are to be announced at a later date.
The promo, scored by a cover of Tammy Wynette’s 1968 single “Stand by Your Man,” features the Southern California coastline and advises viewers to be prepared for love, lies, hope, hate, family, fear, terror, and more.
Dirty John is set to premiere later this year.
