Amazon Studios released on Saturday, July 21st, during its Comic-Con presentation, a first official teaser trailer for its upcoming “mind-bending psychological thriller” series Homecoming, starring Julia Roberts.
Directed by Sam Esmail (the creator of Mr. Robot), the film revolves around Heidi Bergman (Roberts), a caseworker at the Homecoming Transitional Support Center, a Geist Group facility helping soldiers transition to civilian life, who – four years later – has started a new life, living with her mother and working as a waitress. Her life takes a dramatic turn when a Department of Defense auditor questions why she left the Homecoming facility and she begins to realize that there’s a whole other story behind the story she’s been telling herself.
The cast also includes Stephan James as a soldier named Walter Cruz, who is eager to begin the next phase of his life, Bobby Cannavale as Colin Belfast, an ambitious company man who is the facility manager, Sissy Spacek as Heidi’s mother, Shea Whigham as the Department of Defense auditor who reaches Heidi for clarification about the reason why she left the facility, Jeremy Allen White, Alex Karpovsky, Dermot Mulroney and Hong Chau.
The teaser features the Geist Group facility and Roberts sitting in an armchair in what it seems a therapy practice and asking someone “Should we get started?” after writing down something in her notebook.
Homecoming is set to premiere this fall, on November 2, on Prime Video.
