Netflix gives people a glimpse into the season 2 of its original series Ozark in a new trailer.
The Emmy-nominated series follows Jason Bateman’s character, Marty Byrde, as he’s trying to keep his family together while also maintaining his drug money laundering business. Sofia Hublitz, who plays Charlotte, will be returning alongside Charlie Tahan, who plays Wyatt Langmore, and others. Me Before You’s star Janet McTeer has joined the cast as a Chicago attorney, who may be a potential threat to Byrd’s illegal doings.
According to the official synopsis, the upcoming season continues to follow Marty Byrde and his family “as they navigate the murky waters of life within a dangerous drug cartel. With Del out, the crime syndicate sends their ruthless attorney Helen Pierce to town to shake things up just as The Byrdes are finally settling in. Marty and Wendy struggle to balance their family interests amid the escalating dangers presented by their partnerships with the power-hungry Snells, the cartel and their new deputy, Ruth Langmore, whose father Cade has been released from prison. The stakes are even higher than before and The Byrdes soon realize they have to go all in before they can get out”.
“Another man is dead,” Marty’s wife, Wendy (Linney), says in voiceover in the trailer, as the camera pans over the Redneck Riviera and some bones just uncovered by the FBI. “People make choices, Wendy,” Marty replies. “We don’t have to live under the weight of those decisions.” The end of the trailer, which is scored by a cover of David Bowie’s “Man Who Sold the World,” ends with Wendy reminding her husband he’s the one who’s always said “People make choices”.
Ozark Season 2 will launch August 31 on Netflix.
