Heathrow Airport celebrates the start of summer holiday in a new advert, aimed at highlighting that there’s no better feeling than setting your out of office and realizing that your summer holiday is just about to begin.
The 60-second spot, part of the “Closer” campaign, features a woman sitting in the lounge area of the Heathrow airport, writing her Out of Office e-mail on her smartphone and raising from time to time her head to look at her two kids and enjoy the feeling she has, knowing that, for the next week, she will be on vacation. “This is an automated response. Apologies, but I’m out of office this week, on holiday. If you need immediate assistance, please contact another member of the team, otherwise I’ll reply to your e-mail on my return,” the voiceover says.
The song used in the ad is the 2015 single “Fighting For?” by Rodney Smith aka Roots Manuva, one of the titans of Black British music.
The “Closer” campaign also includes eight billboards featuring various persons Out of Office and their “Out of Office” e-mail, which shares a personal story. “I’m currently on holiday, with 6 books, 27 podcasts, 2 enthusiastic mates and 1 not-so-broken heart.” one of the messages, belonging to a young man named Andrew, reads. “I’m currently on our first family holiday since we were kids. Follow me on social media for a selection of Dad’s most garish holiday shirts.” another message reads.
UK’s largest airport also provides top holiday tips, inspiration for a last-minute break for those who don’t have nothing planned, tips for a hassle-free summer getaway, from shortcuts and freebies to the upgrades that are worth splashing out on, and more.
In 2017, a Heathrow Airport spot about the wonders of air travel, which featured both actors and captured footage of real-life travelers at the airport, was narrated by the London-born “Star Wars” actor John Boyega.
