Google advertises the Google Pay app, introducing it as “a better way to pay”, in a new ad running in Australia.
The spot, aimed at highlighting that, with Google Pay, you enjoy fast, simple checkout for all the things you plan for and all the things you don’t, features a man spending all his free time to make preparations for a family camping trip. He starts by buying a three person tent and saving his card, which makes additional purchases much easier and faster. A sleeping bag and an insect repellent are among the other items be buys in his effort to organize the perfect camping trip, with the cost of having his wife and little daughter feel neglected. When the big day arrives and they head all together to the camping park, but, unfortunately for them, the weather is not on their side. Since they can’t sleep with the sound of raindrops falling on their tent, the mom suggests to get a hotel room, which they do easily, with Google Pay.
The song used in the ad is “I Got You (At The End Of The Century)” by the Chicago-based alternative rock band Wilco, from their 1996 album, “Being There”. This track also appears on the 2014 album “Alpha Mike Foxtrot: Rare Tracks 1994-2014”.
