The official trailer for the next chapter of the Dragon Tattoo series, titled “The Girl in the Spider’s Web”, has been released.
Directed by Fede Alvarez (the director of 2016’s breakout thriller Don’t Breathe), the film, which is a sequel to the Oscar-nominated “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” follows precocious Swedish computer hacker Lisbeth Salander – played by Golden Globe winner Claire Foy (best known for portraying Queen Elizabeth in Netflix’s “The Crown”) – as she delivers vengeance and deals with her past.
The cast also includes Sverrir Gudnason, Sylvia Hoeks, Lakeith Stanfield, Claes Bang, Stephen Merchant, Synnøve Macody Lund, Vicky Krieps and Christopher Convery.
The trailer opens with Foy using a trap to capture a villainous husband and then coldly telling him as he hangs upside down that she will transfer 20% of his cash to the two prostitutes he had beaten up and the rest to his abused wife. Chase scenes, fighting scenes, and gunplay amid snowy landscapes are the main ingredients in the trailer, which carries the message “The past never forgets.” “Why did you help everyone but me?” a blonde woman asks Salander.
The song used in the extended trailer is “Troy” by Sinéad O’Connor, the first single from her 1987 debut album, “The Lion and the Cobra”.
