Samsung continues to promote its Galaxy S9 smartphone in a new commercial, focusing on Bixby Vision’s makeup feature.
Part of the “Life of Sam” series, the ad features Sam and a friend in a coffee shop talking about a lipstick shade they saw on a customer’s lips. When her companion holds her phone near Sam’s face to have an idea as of how that colour would look on her, Sam takes out her Samsung Galaxy S9 and shows her the Bixby Vision’s makeup filters, which allow them to see what they would look like with various lipsticks on.
“So many looks just a tap away. Try on instant makeup, share new looks right away.” onscreen lines read at the end of the spot.
To find the makeup filter, you need to turn on Bixby Vision. The steps to do this are to open the camera app and tap on the eye icon in the lower left-hand corner. At the bottom of the screen, there is a gallery of different options that include, besides makeup, shopping, food, and places.
This is the third installment in the “Life of Sam” series. In the first one, titled “Low Light Camera”, Sam showcases the capabilities of the Galaxy S9 rear camera, which, thank to the F1.5 aperture mode and multiframe noise reduction, ensures the photos she takes in the dark come out clear and bright, with no fine-tunning required. The second one, titled “Live Translation” and soundtracked by “Help Me” by Sonny Knight and the Lakers, features Sam on a date with a guy in a Chinese restaurant. Using her Galaxy S9, she is able to translate the menu and her date’s shirt, live.
In other commercials showcasing the Galaxy S9, the South Korean giant highlighted the Super Slow-mo feature, which allows users to add music, swing, reverse and loop.
The Samsung Galaxy S9 is priced at $719.99 and the Galaxy S9+ at $839.99 unlocked on the brand’s website.
