Jordan has enlisted Maya Moore to pay homage to the iconic “Wings” photograph from 1989 of Michael Jordan, when he was playing for Chicago Bulls.
The 28-year-old basketball player for the Minnesota Lynx of the Women’s National Basketball Association recreates the “wings” pose in a 60-second spot titled “Wings,” which delivers the message “No bird soars too high, if she soars with her own wings”.
Soundtracked by a cover of the iconic “Feeling Good”, the ad also features highlights from her basketball career, including clips from youth basketball, Collins Hill and Connecticut.
The four-time WNBA champion is also featured posing just like Michael Jordan’s wings poster from 1989 on a poster that will be displayed in a large display across from the entrance of the Target Center, where the Lynx play home games.
Maya Moore teamed up with the brand of basketball footwear and athletic clothing produced by Nike in 2011, becoming the first woman to sign with the company.
Minnesota Lynx will open their 2018 WNBA season this Sunday, at 5:00 p.m. ET, against the Los Angeles Sparx.
