Jason Statham - The Meg (2018 Movie)

The trailer for the upcoming thriller The Meg, starring Jason Statham, has been released. Based on Steve Alten’s 1997 book, “The Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror”, the film follows the occupants of a deep sea submersible who must deal with the seventy foot ancestor of the Great White Shark, which was accidentaly unleashed.

Directed by John Turteltaub from a script by Dean Georgaris, the film also stars Ruby Rose, Li Bingbing, Cliff Curtis, Winston Chao, Robert Taylor, and Jessica McNamee.

The trailer opens with the occupants of an underwater marine research station called Mana One, which is 200 miles off the Chinese coast, encountering the meg. “There’s a monster outside,” a little girls tells her mother, who shows up together with Statham’s character, a researcher who turns into a shark fighter as the prehistoric megalodon moves towards beaches. Rainn Wilson, who also plays a researcher, suggests that rather than kill the fish, the team “just put a tracker on it”.

The song used in the trailer is “Beyond Sea”, a song which has been recorded by many artists, but Bobby Darin’s version, released in late 1959, is the best known, reaching No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The Meg will hit theaters this summer, on August 10, 2018.
